A statement from Barcelona today had it that Ronald Araujo has extended his contract at the Camp Nou to 2026.
The centre-back’s current contract will expire in 2023. His wonderful displays made his contract extension a priority for Joan Laporta and his fellow directors.
The 23-year-old was a rock in Barcelona’s defense.
After much negotiations between the two parties, he finally sign a new deal and the club increased his release clause to tie him to the club for a long time.
“I’m really happy to be able to stay here, to stay for many more years,” Araujo said after renewing.
“It is the fruit of a lot of hard work, so I thank all the coaches who have helped me.
“When I came to the club and joined the B team, it was a tremendous thing to get to the first team.
“I remember the first time I went to the Camp Nou and I saw how the people cheered for Luis Suarez and my wish was that one day they would cheer for me.
“My wish now is for many titles to be won here.”
