Manchester United interim coach is considered the right candidate to take over the coaching role at Austria.
Recent report has it that the manager, who has already been given the consultant role at Manchester United, when his contract expires this summer, will now combine the role of the Austria National team manager and the consultant role at the club.
Rangnick has been acting as the caretaker coach at United since earlier this season, and he is set to be replaced on the bench by Ajax’s Erik ten Hag at the end of the campaign. Then, he’ll take a job as a consultant to the club.
“I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with Manchester United,” Rangnick said. “I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.
“It is an honour for me to take on the role of [Austria] manager. The prospect of contesting the European Championship in Germany with a young team hungry for success fills me with great anticipation.”
Rangnick has handled 25 games as interim manager. He won 10 games, draw eight and lose seven.
