Paris Saint-Germain put up a press conference on Monday afternoon for Kylian Mbappe and Nasser Al-Khelaifi to further explain the forward’s contract extension until 2025.
The player repeated multiple times that he didn’t want to join Real Madrid because he didn’t feel it was the right moment of his life to leave France.
“I didn’t think this was the right time for me to leave the country where I have grown up and where I’m from,” he stated.
“I appreciate all the effort Real Madrid made, doing all they could to make me happy. I am grateful for their love and I understand their disappointment.
“Like I said, I am French and, as a French man, I wanted to stay here. I am happy with my decision.
“I am looking to the near future. I don’t know what’ll happen in three years.”
