Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany, has confirmed that the club is getting close to reaching an agreement with Gavi.
The player’s stay at the club has been hanging with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023 and negotiations to extend it has not gone as expected.
But Barcelona sporting director provided a fresh update to the contract extension process, indicating a great progress for the Catalan club.
The Spanish midfielder was promoted to Barcelona’s first team at the beginning of the season and soon became an integral part of Luis Enrique’s Spanish national team as well as the Catalan club.
Gavi will battle with Pedri, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Franck Kessie and Nico Gonzalez for minutes next season as things stand right now.
