Barcelona in their pursuit to strengthen their defence to compete favourably in both domestic and international competitions have lined up Chelsea defenders for the project.
Andreas Christensen had officially joined the club and they still have an eye on Marco Alonso and Caesar Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta has agreed personal terms with Barcelona which would see him receive a significant pay rise, but Chelsea want a fee of £7million for him, as reported by Goal.
Azpilicueta had also entered the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge but an automatic one-year extension was triggered in March when he had made 35 appearances last season. He is set to earn £11m a year before tax if he joins Barcelona. According to Dailymail.
The 32-year-old, who can play at right-back or centre-back, has been the subject of intense interest from Barcelona for several months but a deal has yet to materialise.
However, Barcelona are eager to sign Azpilicueta on a two-year deal and hope that an agreement can be reached.
Barcelona are continuing to endure financial problems, but they feel that Azpilicueta would be a key signing who would provide them with extra authority in defence.
Azpilicueta is eager to return to his native Spain and has a good relationship with Barcelona boss Xavi.
In addition to Christensen, Barcelona have also signed midfielder Franck Kessie, who was previously at AC Milan on a free transfer.
An arrival from Marseille in 2012, Azpilicueta has made 476 appearances for Chelsea.
