Barcelona have informed midfielder Frenkie de Jong that he needs to leave the club this summer according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan giants are said to have agreed a deal worth €85m with Manchester United for the Dutchman.

His exit from the club would be hugely beneficial to Barcelona in many ways as it would make way to register new players. Xavi Hernandez wants De Jong to stay at the club but the decision is financial.

Secondly, his departure will make way for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, who the club has been targeting.

Barcelona have many options in the midfield, Sergio Busquets and Pedri are the two regular starters with Gavi, Franck Kessie, Sergi Roberto and Nico Gonzalez as back ups. That softens the blow of losing Frenkie, who joined Barcelona from Ajax three years ago.
