The UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin condemned the projectinitiated by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus to create a competition to rival UEFA’s Champions League.

“It’s over. Those involved are trying to satisfy their ego a bit more, but it could never work anyway,” Ceferin told Sportske Novosti.

The UEFA President was asked about about the lack of competitiveness in leagues like the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1, where Bayern Munich and PSG have been dominating, and whether this could encourage the revival of projects like the Super League.

“It’s true, those two leagues are not very competitive. Two clubs dominate. There is more competition in Italy, but they are not financially strong.

“The Premier League has the most tradition, the fans are different than those in Italy. When we were at war with the Super League, we were helped by English fans. Italians and Spaniards have done nothing,” said the Slovenian.
