The Blues could have done without Kai Havertz breaking a finger while celebrating his goal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday night.

The player was mobbed by teammates after opening the scoring against Spurs at Stamford Bridge, only to end the celebration in pain and holding his hand.

He was given medical treatment and carried on until half-time, but was removed as Thomas Tuchel looked to protect his forward, and reduce the possibility of it getting any worse.

Chelsea are waiting to know if the 22-year-old will feature in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie with Chesterfield.
