The Super Eagles coach resumed duties recently this December, but his major task will be to instill his philosophy into the tram and get the job done.
Super Eagles interim manager Augustine Eguavon has revealed what he wants the team to be like, he wants the team to play entertaining football, to press their opponents and dominate in possession.
The former Nigerian international took over after the German tactician Gernot Rohr was sacked this month.
Irrespective of the short time, as the African Cup of nations is just 18 days from now,he wants the super Eagles to play his type of football.
In an interview with Journalists, he stated clearly that he wants his team to play entertaining football.”But you must try at every time to posses the ball, dominate the possession, but with the intention of going forward. When that space is open, we’ll have to explore”.
Eguavon also revealed the criteria for selecting his team. He expressed his desire for versatile players as he explained that only players who can easily fit into important positions would make the team.
“Eleven players are playing, so we are not going to leave defensive responsibilities for defenders alone or offensive responsibilities for strikers alone,” Eguavon said.
He continued ” It’s a team work obviously, and mind you, what I like, you must be able to play more than one position on the field of play.”
“So wherever you find yourself, you should be able to do at least something 40-60 per cent.”
Eguavon has a bid task to deliver as many of Super Eagles players have proven to be versatile players in their respective clubs.
The AFCON competition is just eighteen days away, a lot is expected from him.
