Demarai Gray’s late thunderbolt lifted the mood at Evertocn as Rafael Benitez’s side came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory against Arsenal at Goodison Park on Monday Night Football.
It was looking like it wasn’t going to be Everton’s night when Richarlison was twice denied goals after being ruled offside by VAR, especially when Martin Odegaard gave the visitors the lead in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
However, the Brazilian wasn’t to be denied a third time as he headed home the rebound after Gray’s strike had hit the crossbar to bring the scores level.
Everton winger Demarai Gray, speaking to Sky Sports about his winning goal described today as a time he never had at Everton.
It was a crazy moment. My best moment here so far. It was important for us to get that win. As a group we have gone through this bad patch but we have stuck together. With the fans like that, behind us for the whole game, it’s more than deserved.
“My confidence is high at the moment. I believe in myself and my ability. I’m working hard and improving and I want to be the best player I can be. We’ve had a rough patch and today I’m just happy we got the three points.”
