Celta Vigo, besides blowing a three-goal lead to only take home one point. The Catalan club also suffered three new injuries, to Ansu Fati, Eric Garcia and Nico Gonzalez.
Fati had to go off at the end of a first half in which he’d opened the scoring, having suffered a hamstring injury. As he made a sprint, the 19-year-old immediately pulled up and had to go off.
That’s a concern for the club, since he has been so important since returning from a long-term knee injury. Barcelona know that they must be careful with the youngster, who’ll now miss Spain’s matches this international break.
Eric Garcia was also substituted off at half time, having suffered a calf injury. Then, in the second half, Nico Gonzalez had to go off too with a muscular issue.
This means that Barcelona now have 11 names on their medical report. They were already missing eight players for this trip, with Sergino Dest, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Pedri, Martin Braithwaite and Ousmane Dembele all having injuries, with Sergio Aguero having his heart issue and with Neto missing due to a fever.
The good news for incoming Barcelona coach Xavi is that there are two weeks until the next match, so he’ll hope to recover some of these players during the November international break.
