Pair were never teammates at Barcelona

Colombia, there was a physical altercation between Neymar and Yerry Mina, as the duo resumed hostilities in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier.

The match itself was a forgettable affair which finished 0-0, yet Mina and Neymar were tangled together on several occasions during the match.

Mina himself has history of this, with England knowing first hand how disruptive he can be from their World Cup clash in Russia back in 2018, although whether or not this is an intentional tactic for him to antagonise the opponent most likely to react is unclear.

Both players clashed in the Copa America during the summer, when referee Nestor Pitana allowed a goal to stand for the Selecao after the ball hit him during play.

It took almost 10 minutes for VAR to make a ruling on the goal, and during that interval it was seen that Neymar and Mina had engaged in a bout of pushing and shoving.

In November there will be another meeting between the two teams, with Brazil hosting Colombia, and it’s anticipated that if both players are fit it will be unavoidable that they will clash again, given their directly opposing positions on the pitch.
