Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has weighed in on the qualities of the club’s current defenders ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Villarreal. The Red Devils go into that match looking to pick up their first points of their European campaign. And defeat would be disastrous for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Manchester United have been inconsistent of late.
Their season started well enough but, in recent weeks, they’ve lost to Young Boys, West Ham and Aston Villa in the Champions League, Carabao Cup and Premier League respectively.
One area that United are being criticised for is their defence.
Despite recently signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, their backline is still being breached far too often for Solskjaer’s liking.
Fernandes has now opened up on the France international, as well as Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones.
And he’s given the quintet his backing, insisting they’ll all be vital over the course of the campaign.
